About the project

Urban atmospheres, environments, designs and interactions are the subjects of Modulorbeat’s inter-disciplinary research and design practice. Their installations and interventions are centered on public space as a geographic location, an open forum and as a public communication medium.
For GLOW they are invited to develop a site-specific solution for their installation "Big Tanks!": Illuminated water tanks, supported by sound, form an environment to linger and to lounge.

Their projects reach from developing event concepts, creating & managing the kubik clubs, designing contemporary exhibition forms to the conception of innovative fashion shows. For GLOW 2008 they are responsible for the production management & the development of an interactive sound & light system for the installation ‘Intermediate NML’.

Rot8ion is an ambisonic sound experiment. Ambisonic sound comes from all directions, aimed at the visitor of the park. In project Rot8ion, the sounds do not only come from all directions but they also move.
The sounds move independently of each other in various patterns through the park. These (environment) sounds together form a composition which is influenced by the effect that the visitors have on the light object in the park.
Rot8ion is a project created by software designer Ralf van Meer and sound artist Rob van Rooij.
