Interview

What was the first art/design/architecture work that impressed you?
The skyscrapers Mannesmann building by Schneider-Esleben and
DreischeibenHochhaus by HPP

How do you reflect on light as a material or media in your work?
I use light as a transformative material regarding social-political
and urban issues, also including communication! That is why Peter Weibel calls my work ŒLichtpolitik¹!

What was the guiding interest in your conceptual approach of your work we see during GLOW?
Inside the city light plays a special role: i suggested to use light
not as a guiding system, but to irritate people by it¹s absence or better by
its anthropomorph appearance like breathing of a human body in public
space!

What made it interesting to work in Eindhoven?
Eindhoven is known as a city of light in research and practice! Frits
Philips was given Eindhoven a point of identification but also the city
is known for it¹s Stedelijk van Abbe Museum which also has the
Light-Space-Modulator of Laszlo Moholy-Nagy in it¹s collection another
Landmark and reference point in my life!

What kind of respond do you expect from the audience?
I hope people will feel the difference of the light i have in mind
reduction and modulation that’s what i have on mind... But i am aware of
the fact the GLOW interests a very experienced audience so i will wait and
see!

Anything you would like to add?
Also the University f.e. with it¹s HOLST lecture series in Fall this
year!
