As a videographer Charly Nijensohn works on sight and sights and their insight-qualities. For a series of works he travelled to the most remote places on earth like the Atacama Desert in Chile or the Fjord Uppernavik in Greenland in order to find visuals illustrating the relationship of the universe and mankind. During GLOW he will present his latest works of this series. The installation “El Naufragio de los Hombres” (translates as “The Shipwreck of Mankind”) is based on images, sounds and videos which origin from the Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia. While being a salt-desert in the dry season, the area becomes a surreal landscape during the two month of the rains. The three synchronized projections and audios are records of silences and sounds, lights and colors, movements and structures, vastness and emptiness, human figures and their relationship to the open horizon. |
