Interview

What was the first art/design/architecture work that impressed you?

In my early years it has been Christo. I liked, that he could space something into the landscape that was different then nature - art - that made the nature or the building even more significant. I was reflecting on how I can with the performing art achieve a similar effect, Art that stays deep in the memory of those how have seen it. In dance this always is gone so fast

How do you reflect on light as a material or media in your work?

Light plays a very important factor in my work. It should not only bring the performer into the right light but it should act as teamplayer, as a own media.

What was the guiding interest in your conceptual approach of your work we see during GLOW?

The guiding interest was the chance to once present our object - The Luftstation (the structure we play "ORBITE" on) - in the context of architecture as a sculpture, as apposed to as merely stage design. This aspect of the object, its aesthetic as a sculpture standing on its own, was a high priority for us as we commissioned the sculptors/buiders/designers to build The Luftstation. But it sofar never received such weight as a consideration, since we always played at dance or street theatre or city festivals.
Now the work is firmly anchored to architecture, and will also be received by a totally different kind of an audience (or at least we can assume and hope so). The work always changes through the context it is presented in.
That is what we find attractive about presenting "Orbite" in the context of GLOW

Hat made it interesting to work in Eindhoven?

The previous answer applies to this question too .

What kind of respond do you expect from the audience?

We expect nothing. and are open for everything. We are very curious if the audience is different or not.
The "usual respond" is that of being absolutely impressed. People tend to find the work very original.
The acrobatic and dare-devil aspect - the "wow"-effect - is strong for people too.
Weather the GLOW crew concentrates on the light and structure more than on the acrobatic acts, we will see.

Anything you would like to add?

No, not for now.
We are delighted to come and play at GLOW!
