Interview

“My work investigates the dynamic clash between bodies, machines and other media”

Senses “Through my art I want to show how culture acts upon our senses, expressing this in a great variety of ways, making use of continually-changing technology. I describe my work as an investigation between the dynamic clash between bodies, machines and other media. In “Exploded Views – Remapping Firenze” the interface between the body and technology hands over control to the viewer who decides which direction to take and how to up the intensity of the images traversed”.

Future Tourism “The visual material in 3D draws on the latest experimental technology developed in the “Technische Universität Darmstadt”. This technology makes it possible to combine cinematographic quality with interactive graphics. “Remapping Firenze” is the first version of this installation. In this Italian city, the conceptual focus was placed on the incessantly growing number of tourists that violate public life and the beauty of this Renaissance city in its entirety; changing it into a fast-tourist sort of Disney World and at the same time scaring away the local population from the city centre (Florence hosts 12 million tourists per year compared with a population of only 355,000). In the future new cities will be added to the installation”.
