“Role models keep the dialogue between the city and the residents alive”

Ideal medium “My themes revolve around self-affirmation, identity and individuality, ethics, aesthetics and morality in an age of personal insecurity brought on by global change. The portrait offers an ideal medium for exploration of the subjects of human individuality and identity. The media for my artwork includes staged spatial scenes and portrait installations, action, performance, language, light and virtuality. The point of departure of my explorations of the relationship between the individual and the society is the experience of multiplicity, ambiguity and imperfection as fundamental conditions of human existence”.

Public examples The portrait silhouettes of great personalities from the history of electricity as Volt, Ampère, Galvan and Watt obviously fit Eindhoven, as the City of Light. Halogen in combination with paintings on glass form the basis for this series of light portraits. Recently I have realized several projects with light and portrait in the urban space. In a society with less traditional values role models are more and more required. Having an example is important, whether it’s a soccer player, popstar or a big name in politics and culture. The idea behind the artwork is to cause a dialogue between the city and its residents and to promote the discussion about the identity of the city. By bringing “Leuchtende Vorbilder (Shining Examples)” in public space their value is being kept alive.”
