About the project

Project: The Veil
Location: Grote Berg

Mary-Anne Kyriakou has been working as a lighting designer, fine artist and musician creating environments that comprise all her skills and interests. In her works she continues to explore the relationship of light and sound as parallel rhythmical dimensions investigating options to treat light and sound as physical matters. In her reactive installations ambience, behavior and digital information share the projection territories.

For the first time, she co-operates with the fashion designer Su-Wen Leong. Rooted in her fascination for sculptural and futuristic visual references Su-Wen Leong weaves her conceptual approaches into her craftsmanship in the design of The Veil environment.

“The Veil” is a reactive installation by lighting designer Mary-Anne Kyriakou and Rick Cale, housed in an environment designed by Su-Wen Leong. Listening to the music of Mary-Anne Kyriakou the visitors are invited to make use of their mind-activity. By a custom-made device streams of thoughts are used to transform light and color of the installation and its appearance.
