"There is no meaning without context"

Accidental "I wonder about the fact that the visual representation of the world is an accidental one. Trees could just as well be bright red, that they are green means in fact nothing at all. But green is a contemporary concept that stands for durability, energy-efficiency, Al Gore, the electric car ... But why don’t we simply make a car that will last for thirty years? This is obviously “bad business” in a capitalist market. So we just change of image, in this case green. It doesn’t make me cynical, but I observe it with great wondering. You should be able to put it in perspective without devalue it, that is the crux. That all of this just as well might have been different or could be different, is an inspiring thought”.

Complexity "I enjoy working in public or semi-public space because of the complexity of the environment. The context may create and strengthen the work, there is no meaning without context. “The Match of the Day” can make people laugh or think, hopefully they are triggered by the content of the combinations of images. But because the pairs of images are clustered by the computer, there is nobody who has thought about the content. Thus that content is really in the viewer itself ... "
