| “We want to improve and inspire everyday life with light” “Niklas Ödmann and I have been working right from the start with lighting design for exterior and interior architecture and environments, dedicated on the philosophy to improve and inspire everyday life with light. Our sources of inspiration are the Nordic light and its variations through the day and the year. Limitless colors, intensities and atmospheres that changes slowly. Our aim is to create in our work a sense of mystery, which we achieve through a unique appreciation of nature, art, human relationships and the careful balancing of darkness and light. Light is a fantastic material to change the world…” “There’s one thing we can agree on and that’s the light that comes out from LED’s or CFL’s is not yet as nice as the one from incandescent bulbs, making the old inefficient bulb incomparable to any other light source. GLOW is a festival that connects light, technology, creativity and socio-urban development, that’s why we propose to work with the incandescent bulb as theme for our light installation at GLOW. For more than 120 years the incandescent bulb has represented technology, has been a source of creativity and the light source of all social and cultural development. In this way and under the topic of this year’s version of GLOW, Ljusarkitektur proposes to “become public and get public” by manifesting our concern towards the phasing out of the light bulb in its own house, Eindhoven. My hope is that people will take a moment to reflect on the fact that our children will not live under the warm and cozy incandescent light”. |
