"I’d like to think as a child"

Between dream and nightmare Max Sudhues is a modern Dadaïst, in the sense that he likes to work with everyday objects, but he is certainly not planning to provocate the public. He is fascinated by the new reality that occurs between a dream world and the real world. Light is his favorite artistic material because light causes shadow and movement with which he can create his own fantastic environment.

Toys His studio in Berlin has not much to do with the workspace of an artist, but seems more like a child’s playroom. "As a small boy I was already interested in the world. The daily life is an inexhaustible source of inspiration; a good book, play or movie, travelling. My favorite activity of all time is going for a walk in a foreign city, I like to explore the movements of that city. I think as a child. I collect simple objects, such as pieces of plastic or toys, and love to experiment with it”.

No Big Brother "The installation Kijken/To Look that I’ve designed specifically for GLOW is my greatest projection until now. I like to work with overhead projectors, because it is a simple, almost human technique that fits between high-and lowtec. I hope that my installation doesn’t give the public a ‘Big Brother Is Watching You’ feeling. All those eyes! But you can also consider eyes as funny or surreal, not necessarily as a threat. In addition, you can also see another graphic structure. I invite the audience to use their imagination”.
