| Klaartje Esch (1982) makes colorful night shots. Because of the slow shutter speeds photographs arise with a particular color perception, tendering to monochrome. Abandoned places and objects are being put in an alienating night light. She works purely with the present ambient night light. Her pictures are raw and pure just as the scenery. Her work evokes abandoned reality and present mysterious atmospheres. As an unnoticed door to another world of visual rhythms and moods of night light, a beach that resembles a lunar landscape, buildings in a new formative lighting, a façade that seems to be on fire. Resulting in surreal images, as light as the night and as bright as the darkness itself. Klaartje Esch has graduated from the Design Academy in Eindhoven and from the AKI Kunstacademie in Enschede. She has exhibited at Galerie Hüsstege Den Bosch, Nederlands Foto Museum Rotterdam, Arti en Amecitiae Amsterdam, Galerie Bart Kunst in Huis, Nijmegen, Dutch Design Week and Galerie Pennings Eindhoven. Fotosz.nl, Fotografie Stichting Zuid-Nederland (Photography Foundation South Netherlands) was founded mid 2008. Fotosz.nl wants to encourage photography in the south of the Netherlands and to offer a platform for photographers in this region by organizing lectures, workshops and exhibitions.
