about GLOW

Every year in November, Eindhoven will be all about Light Art Festival GLOW. This year for the 12th time, from 11 until 18 November.

An enormous exhibition in public space of 30 famous national and international light artists. The light artworks are connected by a walking route of approximately 6 kilometres which runs through the city centre. Besides the light art projects and numourous side-events there are also innovative, unique works of art that are created by young talents that will be exhibited at the industrial NRE site at the main route. The year's theme is called 'The Source'. All artists were instructed to create a project based ont his theme which already results in a surprising variety of light artworks. The festival is accessible for free.

GLOW revolves around a different theme each year. In 2015, the theme was called 'Nature and Architecture' and the route ran along different rivers and parks in the city centre. 2016 was dominated by the theme 'City and Science', a theme that manifested itself in two different routes: one around the city centre, one route across the TU/e campus.

The theme of GLOW Eindhoven 2017 is 'The Source', referring to the source of light. Eindhoven has been a source of light for the whole world since the founding of the match factory in 1870 and the light bulb factory Philips 1891.

New this year is that GLOW Next will be integrated into the GLOW route. GLOW Next is centered on the NRE site. GLOW Next connects new talent with renowned artists and works with high tech organizations from the most intelligent region of the world: Eindhoven. Almost all results are world premieres: new techniques and new projects. GLOW offers these talents a stage, hoping to introduce them to light festivals worldwide. Releasing them in such a way, GLOW aims to spread the mission: Eindhoven makes the difference in light art.

In 2018 GLOW Eindhoven will take place from 10 - 17 November.
